Marwa is a Policy Advisor at the European Foundation for Democracy. Her work focuses on prevention of radicalization, the role of ideologies and the empowerment of civil society in this context. She works as the Head of Civil Society Programs at the Belgium-based Experts in Elections Democracy and Governance Foundation (EDGE Foundation). Prior to that, Ms. Farid was a Democracy and Governance Consultant at the International Republican Institute (IRI) with a focus on Libya, Morocco, and Egypt. In the run up to Egypt’s first democratic Parliamentary Elections in 2011, she worked as Assistant CEO and Candidate Manager for the Free Egyptians Party. Ms. Farid has worked as a Counter-Human Trafficking consultant with the International Organization for Migration(IOM). Marwa holds a Masters degree in Security, Terrorism, and Insurgency from the University of Leeds (UK), a Bachelor of English from Ain Shams University, and a diploma in International Negotiations from Cairo University.
