In this article for Euronews, EFD President Roberta Bonazzi highlights the importance of empowering progressive liberal-democratic Muslims, rather than appease Islamists who seek a shari’a-based state.

Ms Bonazzi analyses a Belgian Parliament Committee of inquiry report on the Islamist phenomenon and stresses how extremist ideologies do not have to be openly violent to pose a threat to society.
