Good practices in preventing radicalisation and violent extremism: the experience of Morocco

On Tuesday 5th December, the European Foundation for Democracy, in cooperation with the Mission of The Kingdom of Morocco to the European Union and NATO, organised a policy briefing on ‘Good practices in preventing radicalisation and violent extremism: the experience of Morocco’. The briefing was hosted by Anders Primdahl Vistisen MEP, Vice Chairman of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET), Group Coordinator on the EP Special Committee on Terrorism (TERR) and Substitute Member of the Delegation for relations with the Maghreb countries and the Arab Maghreb Union.
The debate focussed on the drivers of radicalisation and presented the Moroccan experience in countering radicalisation and violent extremism. Discussions also focussed on EU activities on the prevention of radicalisation in the Maghreb region.

About European Foundation for Democracy

The European Foundation for Democracy (EFD) is a Brussels and Berlin-based policy institute that has been working with civil society, academic, governmental and other stakeholders on the prevention of radicalisation for more than a decade. Through our work with these organisations and groups, EFD’s goal is to ensure that the universal values of the Enlightenment – political pluralism, respect for individual rights, government by democracy – remain the founding precepts of European security and prosperity.
